DIN 915

DIN 915
  • DIN 915

DIN 915 is a German standard that specifies the dimensions and technical requirements for dog point set screws. The standard applies to set screws with metric threads and a cone-shaped tip, also known as a dog point. The dog point provides a secure and accurate location of the screw in the workpiece, making it particularly useful for applications where the screw needs to remain in place but can be adjusted or removed as necessary.

The standard covers a range of sizes from M1.6 to M24, with different length options available for each size. The standard also specifies the tolerances for dimensions such as thread diameter, thread length, and overall length. Additionally, it provides guidelines for the mechanical properties of the set screws, such as the minimum and maximum values for hardness and tensile strength.

Uses of DIN 915

  •  DIN 915 is a set screw with a pointed end and a hexagonal socket head. It is used in various mechanical applications where a precise and secure fit is needed. Some common uses of DIN 915 include:
  • Fastening of machine components: DIN 915 is commonly used to fasten machine components in a variety of industries, including automotive, construction, and manufacturing.
  • Locking of rotating parts: The pointed end of the set screw allows it to securely lock rotating parts in place, preventing unwanted movement or slippage.
  • Adjusting alignment: DIN 915 can be used to adjust the alignment of parts, ensuring they are properly positioned and functioning as intended.
  • Securing threaded parts: The hexagonal socket head of DIN 915 allows for easy installation and removal, making it an ideal choice for securing threaded parts.
